The base ingredients in my green juice: cucumber, celery, kale and spinach. I added lime and cilantro today. If you like sweet juices, such as apple, orange and so on, this is not for you. Even I find it a little hard to drink. But a detox should be fun not a pain. You could still have this as a base, just add one apple, orange or kiwi, coconut water is great too. Remember, it's supposed to be fun! Eventually you'll learn to drink non sweet juices. An easier way to learn to appreciate green juices is to cut down on the fruits, like apple, orange, kiwi, pear etc, for each juice you'll drink! However, I'm feeling fantastic, nor am I hungry. I just miss to chew my food though haha... one thing you have to remember when the detox is over, eat small portions and chew well, otherwise your stomach will hurt. Let your tummy get used to the food again, skip fast food, meat and dairy for a few days! Or maybe, we should skip it forever? Or at least cut down on it ;). But don't forget that it's supposed to be fun!
a brooklyn view
So cold that day, and I look really happy about that right? haha.. anyway, this is a view from Brooklyn close to the Brooklyn Bridge, pretty beautiful! I'm halfway through my juice detox today. I just feel a little hungry between the juices, otherwise I'm great! Well I'm still tired though, but that's must be because of the jet lag.
I updated my OS X Mavericks to Yosemite yesterday... AND I hate it! Don't do it folks.
air max 90
I succeeded to buy one pair of Air Max before I traveled home from New York. I paid 110 dollars for these, which is approximately 820 sek, in Sweden you have to pay 1400 sek ($190) for the exact same pair. Happy girl here! However, it's the second day of my juice detox and I'm feeling great. I started the day with a cup of green tea and a glass of citron water. After that I'm just drinking homemade juices, 2L a day, and of course a lot of water and tea when I feel like it! The first 3 days I'm making juices of both fruits and vegetables, they always end up in a green color anyway haha! The two last days I'll be drinking green juices, which means no fruit. Basically it's made of cucumber, spinach, kale and celery, I'll add some ginger and other non sweet vegetables too, I do like variation! Oh and I'm using a juice extractor to make my juices!
top of the rocks
Top of the Rocks, the most beautiful view you could get of Manhattan! Slept to 15:30 today, and I DON'T understand how that happened... I set my alarm for 10:00.... anyway, I'm juice detoxing this week, 5 days to cleanse my system from all the junk I got in New York. Someones who's with me? And yes I'll give you my yummiest recipes!
Brooklyn Bridge a few days ago. I'm back in Sweden now, feeling down and really jetlag.
on the tram
A few pictures from the Roosevelt Island tram we took the other day. We went to a Broadway show yesterday called Pippin, I thought it was fantastic, funny and entertaining throughout the whole show! Today we're going to Williamsburg so that I can show my family where I lived.
My brother and I on Roosevelt Island. It's still really cold outside, but today's gonna be a little warmer, yey! The missions of today: Brooklyn Bridge, Top of The Rock, MoMA and maybe Broadway. I don't want to travel home on Saturday, love this city so much!
Yesterday at Grand Central station. Omg, it's freaking freezing outside, I hate the cold. Today we're walking the highline and then I'm leaving my family to go and do a intervju/retouch test. It takes about 3 hours... wish me luck guys, cross your fingers and all that shit! I really want to nail it!
Today we're going to Central Park and some other places that my mom got planned. I feel like their guide here in NYC, I know the streets and the subway so well, they just follow my lead haha! Anyway, yesterday we went to American Museum of Natural History. It was okay, but I rather go to a museum with fashion photography exhibitions, hehe! Today I'm taking my camera with me so I hope to get some nice photos to show you guys!
Me taking selfies when I was waiting for my family to arrive! I'm living downtown with my family this week, finally I'll be touristing for real in New York!
I'm so glad I packed almost everything yesterday! I still have a lot of things that didn't fit in the bag though... like these two books. Got the Avedon book from Mikael and Therese last Wednesday when Mikael and his partner invited me and Therese over for a sort of goodbye dinner! So nice of them and I didn't expect it. I love Richard Avedon's fashion photos! Later this afternoon I'm taking a cab to the hotell where I will stay with my family, I haven't seen them since August so I guess it's a huggy reunion!
It was my last day yesterday so I had my camera with me to take some photos of the studio which I think is beautiful. Today I have to start pack my bags, I don't want to do it bhu... but I'm not going home just yet, I'm moving in with my family to a hotel to do New York as a true tourist. Anyway, tonight I'm doing Manhattan, hopefully, we'll see about that!
black and white instagram
A few pics from my instagram account, @stylebyellen.
Today is my last day interning with Mikael, and Therese, here in NYC. It feels so weird, I don't want to leave. I can really imagen a life for myself here in this city. I'm traveling home in 8 days to Växjö and a week after that I'm leaving for Stockholm.... This year I've been going from Gamleby -> Växjö -> New York -> Växjö -> Stockholm... I guess I'll be bored in Sweden after New York! No, I don't feel homesick at all... I thought would but I don't.
yes i am longing
Today I'm longing back to the summer and hot days! It's not cold here in NYC compared to Sweden but still, it's getting chillier. I'll probably already be back in Sweden before the temperature goes below zero here. I'm still walking around in my fall and spring jackets here, so I shouldn't complain... but when you get spoiled with weather...
the after picture
My face after a big brunch, feeling really full. There's another picture taken before eating all the food, I look so happy but I though this was much funnier for you guys to see haha! I bought a new mascara yesterday, from Dior, it's much cheaper here than in Sweden. I managed to buy the wrong mascara though hahaha just my luck! But this one seems good too!
Me and Julia in Central Park the other day, my coat looks so big in this picture haha. I'm going home in 11 days... it feels surreal. Anyway, I'm trying to live day by day and just breath New York as long as I'm here. Today I'm working with Mikael, editing pictures, I'm starting to get really really good at skin retouching! My whole family, besides the cat of course haha... are coming this sunday afternoon. It's going to be fun having a whole week with them here and do all the tourist stuff I haven't done yet!
i don't want to leave
I don't want to leave this amazing city, it feels so much like home. But I have to, the US are crazy about people being here, and when I go home I've been here for 86 days. It feels like I've only been here for two weeks or something like that, the time pass so fast. Anyway, Julia's going home today so now I'm sleeping all alone in my bed again! We've had so much fun and I'm so glad that she came to visit me!
Yesterday's brunch at a diner on Manhattan. We had American Pancakes and shared an omelette. After this filling brunch Julia and I met up with Johanna for a walk in Central Park. Today we're taking the Staten Island Ferry and visiting WTC memorial.

a soy latte please
I'm wearing those shoes and that bag to work today. Bought a soy latte on my way too, but that was after I left Julia on her train uptown. I really feel like a New Yorker walking around in sunglasses, a long coat and with a soy latte from Starbucks in my hands. By the way, they always catches my name wrong, 2/3 of the times it says Helen on my cup instead of Ellen... haha
coco rocha allure
Shot by photographer Mikael Schulz
This is what I did the first week I was here. I assisted Mikael during this shoot of Coco Rocha at Pier 59 Studios. I have a lot of BTS's, I'll see if I'm allowed publish them or not!
manhattan night time
Shot these two pictures when I was on the Staten Island Ferry with Nadja, the wind was crazy so I'm glad that I even got a few pictures with some sharpness to em. However, Nadja went home yesterday, I think she want's to live here some part of her life, like I want to do! Julia's coming tonight and she's staying to Monday. We're gonna have a lot of fun! Anyway, right know I'm at Mikael's office on Manhattan editing pictures of a world famous model, and I'm all by my self here!
Nadja's leaving New York today! She loves it here and she'll miss it so much, and I'll miss her! We've had a great time together and I've seen and done stuff here in NYC I haven't seen or done before with Nadja! Left her in a warm bed this morning because I had to leave early for a photoshoot with Mikael!
Two pics from the Staten Island ferry that Nadja and I took yesterday just back and forth before we went to the comedy club. I don't have any time editing more pictures for you guys so you'll see more later!
halloween and yesterday
Thats what we looked like on Halloween, you can't see the bloody white T-shirts we had but thats the only picture I got!
We went to a club yesterday called Le Bain in West Village with a couple of friends to me here. Had a great time and the view was insane! It was on the 18th floor with panorama windows and it had a rooftop! Anyway, we're pretty tired today so we're just doing some sightseeing!
A picture from Union Square, hahaha those police "cars" haha so funny. I have like one picture from yesterday I'll show you later.
// Halloween 2 years ago at Grace Night Club in Växjö, I was dressed up as a Vampire School Girl haha... //
Tonight is Halloween and as you know it's pretty crazy here in the US! Both Nadja and I are getting dressed up, but not too much!
You'll see to what later!
yesterday's birthday girl
I surprised Nadja with a cupcake and tickets to New York Comedy Club in bed yesterday, cus it was her 20th birthday!
Having brunch at an American diner, omelets and American pancakes!
Me and Nadja close to the WTC Memorial.
I had a day of yesterday which I spent with Nadja, but today I'm back to work with Therese!
Pics from today taken with my iPhone, a tour downtown at the WTC memorial with Nadja who arrived yesterday!
It starts to get cold here in New York. I like it, and the trees are changing color, so beautiful, I have to go to central park tomorrow or this weekend. I'm sitting in my bed and writing this post. I better get going soon. Oh Nadja's coming here tonight and stays for a week! Gonna be so much fun having her here!
